We are currently looking for a Construction Manager specializing in healthcare facilities to oversee a large tenant improvement of a medical facility in the Haymarket area of Virginia. This opportunity will be as an on-site Owner's Representative with a large nationwide health-care provider. 

Responsibilities

  • Undertake management responsibilities for projects during planning/programming, pre-construction, and/or post-construction.
  • Plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and report on project construction activities of a single project or multiple projects.
  • Manage staff, designers, contractors, and other vendors providing specialty services to ensure that project is delivered within budget, in full compliance with plans and specifications, consistent with Owner policies and procedures, and in strict compliance with the terms of the contract or contracts governing project activities.
  • Perform day-to-day contract administration including, but not limited to, assisting in bid analysis, award, coordinating and leading conferences with contractor and sub-contractors, negotiations with contractor and members of design team, managing project documentation process, and enforcing terms of contract with contractor and other project vendors.
  • Provide expert technical guidance and information for all aspects of project including construction activities (planning, scheduling, implementation, contracts, industry standards, etc.).
  • Supervise, coordinate, and direct construction management staff. 
  • Formulates solutions, tactics and strategies to ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, performance requirements, and contracts.
  • Monitors construction work and performance of all contractors and personnel to ensure completion on schedule, within budget, in conformance with all contracts, laws, and Owner policies and procedures.
  • Propose solutions, responses, and tactics to overcome shortfalls in contractor performance.
  • Support Project Manager and Owner as required.
  • Perform other construction management functions as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience health care project/construction management of health care projects (e.g., hospitals, medical office buildings, provider office tenant improvements, etc.).
  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, urban planning, construction management or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Professional certification and/or license preferred.
  • Experience in negotiating and writing contracts for design professionals and contractors.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations governing environmental, and construction permitting.
